I scoured the Criterion Collection, honing in on films where eyes are used in strategic and bizarre ways. I wanted to surprise the viewer and keep them engaged in the ad by pairing a classic, upbeat, eye-centric love song (“Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” by Frankie Valli) with disturbing scenes focused on eyes. To hearken back to lyric videos where a ball bounces along the words at the bottom of the screen, I lettered the lyrics by hand and set them to appear in time with the music with Adobe After Effects. The final screen displays what could become a larger ad campaign: "Get Your Eyes on the Criterion Collection."
